About the Role
Responsibilities:
- Drive execution of artificial intelligence strategy, including co-creation of the AI agent ecosystem with data science teams
- Enable and expand high-performance compute capabilities supporting Biomedical Research outcomes
- Own and manage a capability-driven delivery segment, balancing value, risk, capacity, and investment priorities
- Translate enterprise strategy and architecture into segment-level objectives, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes
- Ensure predictable and coordinated delivery across initiatives within agreed scope, timelines, and budget as well as managing dependencies with adjacent delivery segments and other Data & Digital functions
- Provide portfolio-level prioritisation and investment insights to support strategic decision-making
- Lead and develop delivery leads and team members, building a high-performing and collaborative team environment
- Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders and the wider organisation
- Establish and maintain close relationships with other functions in Data & Digital as well as senior leaders in corporate IT to collaborate on the delivery and improvement of corporate-owned platforms that serve Biomedical Research needs.
Essential for the role:
- 5+ years delivering artificial intelligence and high-performance compute platforms at enterprise scale, including complex platform ecosystems
- 10+ years in product and project management across diverse, multi-team digital portfolios
- Proven track record delivering strategy-aligned portfolio outcomes, translating enterprise objectives into measurable business impact
- Strong portfolio planning, prioritisation, and investment management experience across large-scale, capability-driven delivery environments
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams and delivery leaders within complex, matrixed organisations
- Strong stakeholder management capability, with demonstrated experience influencing senior leaders and operating within governance structures
- Deep expertise in scientific software, data management, and artificial intelligence-enabled digital capabilities within research or enterprise environments
- Experience operating within complex, cross-functional environments, driving alignment across business, technology, and digital functions
Desirable for the role:
- Formal training in project management methodologies such as Project Management Professional or Certified Scrum Master
- Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific research environments
Benefits & Rewards
The salary for this position is expected to range between $185,500 and $344,500 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
